Travers Smith LLP has announced today the promotion of six lawyers to its partnership, with effect from 1 July 2024.
The new partners and their principal areas of practice are:
John Buttanshaw, Operational Risk & Environment
John advises across the full spectrum of environment and climate law, alongside a range of other compliance and risk management matters - from human rights through to financial crime. Given this expertise John is currently advising a number of major international businesses on the raft of emergent regulation relating to ESG reporting and supply chain regimes.
Ingrid Hodgskiss, Competition
Ingrid has broad experience in acting for and advising clients on UK and EU competition law matters. She advises on UK, EU and multi-jurisdictional merger control matters, UK national security and foreign direct investment reviews, behavioural competition law matters and competition follow-on damages litigation. She is recognised in Legal 500 as a Rising Star in the EU and Competition section.
Laura Kelly, Private Equity and Financial Sponsors
Laura is an experienced and trusted adviser to international institutional investors and their portfolio companies on all aspects of the investment lifecycle. She regularly advises many of the firm's key clients on cross border and domestic matters including leveraged buyouts, divestments, complex minority investments and restructurings.
Laura Smith, Finance
Laura specialises in fund finance and real estate finance. On the fund finance side Laura acts for some of the most active lenders in the market and for leading asset managers on the full spectrum of fund finance products including subscription facilities, NAV and hybrid facilities and GP/management facilities. In the real estate finance space Laura acts for lenders and sponsors on all aspects of debt financing, including investment and development financings, across a range of asset classes, including retail, office (both traditional and serviced office), healthcare, logistics, student accommodation and hotels.
Chris Widdison, Pensions
Chris provides advice on a broad spectrum of pension matters to trustees, corporate sponsors, and other stakeholders, with a primary focus on deploying his strong technical ability to provide clear, actionable, and commercial guidance.
Gareth Wynne, Real Estate
Gareth has a full service real estate practice with a focus on investments into assets for development or other 'value-add' projects, particularly via joint venture arrangements. He has particular experience working for funds across a number of sectors, including healthcare, logistics, student accommodation, hotels and leisure, office and retail.
