Tom is a senior associate in our Tax Department and specialises in advising private capital managers and their portfolio investments.
Tax experience
Tom advises on all aspects of fund formation (both private and listed funds), with particular specialism in private equity and venture strategies. He advises asset managers on their house and remuneration structures, including carried interest and co-investment arrangements, as well as early stage HMRC disputes.
Tom also advises asset managers on structuring their investment transactions on acquisition and exit, as well as the tax issues arising during the life cycle of portfolio investments. This includes public and private M&A, restructurings and reorganisations, management incentive arrangements and IPOs. Tom also advises private capital managers on the full suite of alternative liquidity solutions, including LP and GP led secondaries.
Tom's clients include the full spectrum of asset managers from global multi-strategy houses to UK based start-up teams. Tom recently spent six months on secondment in the international tax team at Apollo Global Management. Most of Tom's work has an international element.
Tom sits on the Tax department's Global Mobility Working Group, Sustainability Working Group and Base Erosion and Profit Shifting Working Group. Tom regularly speaks and writes about tax.
