Matt is a senior counsel in our Financial Services & Markets Department.
Matt advises operators of financial market infrastructures, digital assets and fintech businesses and financial market participants (including asset managers) on new product and services launches, strategic business transformation projects and day-to-day legal and regulatory matters.
Matt is familiar with the unique legal, regulatory and policy framework applicable to FMI operators, as well as the various aspects of UK and EU financial services law and regulation to which participants in the broader financial markets are subject. This includes regulatory perimeter and licensing issues, conduct of business and organisational requirements (including SMCR), prudential requirements, and anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing rules.
Matt previously worked as an associate at a leading US law firm, where he gained an understanding of the unique business models and challenges faced by FMIs, through advising a US-headquartered financial market infrastructure group with exchanges and central counterparties located in a number of jurisdictions around the globe.
