Joel is a partner in the Funds Department with a particular focus on 'retailisation' structures designed to target wealth managers and private banks, for alternative asset managers
Joel joined Travers Smith in 2024 having previously led the legal function of one of the world's largest credit asset managers. In this role, Joel was pivotal in creating the first semi-liquid retail private credit fund in Europe whilst also leading on many of the firm's strategic legal issues.
Joel served on the board of the Alternative Credit Council and is heavily involved in the industry’s response to regulatory developments affecting access to private assets by non-professional investors.
