Ian is a knowledge counsel in our Tax Department. Ian's area of focus is tax issues relating to the asset management sector and he is responsible for know-how and training in that area.
Ian joined Travers Smith in 2019, prior to which he was a legal director at Eversheds Sutherland, having started his career at Slaughter and May. Ian has brought to Travers Smith over 15 years' experience advising clients on the tax aspects of a broad range of matters, including, the full spectrum of issues that arise during the life cycle of a fund, company and business acquisitions and disposals, financing transactions and company reorganisations.
Ian's role includes keeping the Tax Department up to date with legal developments, co-ordinating and delivering training, writing client briefings and maintaining and developing know-how and precedent documents. He has written a number of articles and briefings for external publications.
