Danny Riding

Danny is a partner in the Financial Services & Markets Department.

Danny has specialised in advising financial market participants on the legal, practical and regulatory requirements affecting their businesses since 2014. He has particular experience of working with UK, EU and non-EU alternative asset managers, and in 2021 won the Lexology Client Choice Award for Private Funds (UK).

Danny works closely with trade associations, and recently helped to shape industry responses to the EU Sustainable Finance Action Plan and the UK Green Finance Strategy. He regularly presents on these and other hot topics at key industry conferences, including the PEI Responsible Investment Forum, the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association Alternative Investment Week and Informa's Regulatory and Tax Issues for Funds 2021.

Advising major alternative investment managers on legal and regulatory change projects, including in relation to sustainable finance, regulatory capital rules, Brexit and the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR).
Designing and implementing complex business reorganisations in the financial services sector.
Establishing and structuring regulated businesses, including new FCA authorisations.

Advising on the UK and EU regulatory aspects of large, cross-border fundraises, particularly structuring and fund distribution.
Training senior investment professionals on the UK regulatory regime.
Advising on UK licensing issues, including complex change of control applications, anti-financial crime matters and sensitive employee conduct issues.
