Alexa is a partner in the Dispute Resolution Department.

Alexa is an experienced commercial litigator, regularly advising on complex, high-value disputes, often involving multiple jurisdictions. She has acted on a broad range of contractual and non-contractual commercial disputes for clients with business interests across a wide variety of sectors.  

She has substantial experience of matters involving fraud and conspiracy, acting variously for Claimants and Defendants, including as part of the multi-award-winning team defending a liquidator of Kaupthing Bank in a claim brought by property tycoon Robert Tchenguiz, relating to an investigation into Mr Tchenguiz by the Serious Fraud Office. 

Alexa has experience of litigation before the High Court and Court of Appeal, as well as arbitration. She has also acted for clients seeking urgent injunctive relief from the court.

Alexa is recommended in The Legal 500 UK for her commercial litigation work.

WORK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Various defendants in relation to fraudulent misrepresentation and conspiracy claims amounting to over £900 million brought in connection with the long-running and high-profile litigation between BTA Bank and Mr Ablyazov.
  • Acting for a private equity firm and its investee company in relation to claims made by the latter's founder and minority shareholder for fraud and other serious wrongdoing, and counterclaims for breach of contract, defamation and harassment.
  • Acting for AIM-listed Pathfinder Minerals plc in a multi-jurisdictional dispute relating to the ownership of mining concession licenses over the Moebase and Naburi heavy mineral sands deposits near the Indian Ocean coast of Mozambique, and the alleged fraudulent diversion of the licences away from the company.
  • Acting for Kaupthing and Jóhannes Rúnar Jóhannsson in two Commercial Court cases in which the Tchenguiz brothers claimed damages of £3 billion for an alleged unlawful conspiracy to mislead the SFO.
  • Acting for minority shareholders of a major Pakistani utility company in relation to a threatened take-over.
  • Acting for a major bank's subsidiary in relation to a conspiracy claim arising out of a team move.
  • Acting for Stena Line Limited in a dispute relating to an industry-wide pensions scheme, the Merchant Navy Ratings Pension Fund, as to whether the trustees could amend the scheme rules so as to permit them to seek contributions from former employers to meet the fund's £272 million deficit.
