Travers Smith's solicitor apprentice programme open for applications

Overview

Applications open today for Travers Smith LLP's inaugural solicitor apprentice programme.  The window for applications will remain open until 16 January 2025 with successful candidates starting their apprenticeships in September of that year.

Open to all school leavers, post A level and from across the UK, apprentices will be based in London for their training.  Alongside their time in the office, they will spend one day a week studying for a degree-level apprenticeship with BPP Law School, leading to the award of an LLB (Hons) in law as well as the post-graduate level SQE (Solicitors' Qualifying Examination). The six-year programme will offer four one-year seats in core practice areas, followed by two years of six-month placements across all areas of the firm.

Throughout their training, the apprentices will be fully supported financially, with Travers Smith covering all tuition fees.  In the workplace, our apprentices will learn from our expert lawyers and will be offered a dedicated programme of in-house training to complement their academic studies. Wellbeing is also key, and every apprentice will be provided with dedicated HR support throughout all aspects of their time with the firm.

Upon successful completion of their apprenticeship in 2031, our 2025 apprentices will be eligible for an NQ role alongside the graduate trainee cohort, subject to the same performance standards.

Travers Smith partner and programme sponsor, Peter Hughes, said: "As a firm we are passionate about enabling everyone who is interested in a career in law, whatever their background, and who thought that it wasn't an option for them, to pursue their dreams.

"We're excited about the opportunities our programme will give to our apprentices who will be drawn from a wide and diverse range of talent, representative of our firm, clients and the world in which we live, and we can't wait to welcome them next year."
