Travers Smith LLP is delighted to announce the hire of new Head of Planning Jamie McKie and Head of Construction Edward Colclough.
Edward Colclough has extensive experience advising on all stages of construction and engineering projects. He has acted for various funders, employers, joint-ventures, contractors, consultants and sub-contractors and has experience on large-scale mixed commercial/residential developments, hotel, university, student accommodation, data centres, sports stadia, wind farm, power plant and hospital developments. Edward has a specific focus on complex high-value projects, often on an international basis.
Prior to joining Travers Smith, Edward was a Senior Associate at construction and energy specialists Fenwick Elliott overseeing work throughout London, the Middle East and Africa.
Jamie McKie advises on a broad spectrum of contentious and non-contentious planning matters, and has acted for a diverse range of clients including commercial developers, retailers, investors, national house builders and public bodies. He has advised on several high profile projects such as estate regeneration schemes and urban extensions, and significant residential and mixed use schemes.
His work includes advising on planning applications, local and national planning policy and legislation, complex planning and highways agreements, CIL and viability matters, and planning appeals and judicial reviews.
Jamie has joined Travers Smith from Dentons, which he joined in 2015 and where he held the role of Senior Associate in the Planning and Public Law team. Jamie was formerly the LGA's Head of Legal and a Senior Planning Lawyer at Westminster City Council. Jamie is also a solicitor advocate with Higher Rights of Audience, and a member of the Law Society's Planning and Environmental Law Committee.
The new additions to the team will further bolster the Real Estate practice group as it goes from strength to strength. Edward and Jamie will work particularly closely with Real Estate Partners Simon Rutman, Alex Millar and Emma Pereira. The team's real estate clients include AJ Capital, Clearbell Capital, Lothbury Investment Management, Nomura, McCarthy Stone, Patron Capital, University of Oxford, Heimstaden, Impact, Ashby Capital, and Westrock investing, developing and operating across a range of sectors.
