Travers Smith LLP has launched a new app to provide businesses with a handy source of up-to-date information on the ever–changing world of UK employment and business immigration law.
TSEmpLaw is primarily aimed at HR professionals and in-house counsel, but is expected to be of use to anyone operating businesses in the UK.
The app has been developed in-house by Travers Smith's Employment and IT Departments, led by Partner Ed Mills and Associate Will Dixon, and is the first client-focused app for the 200-year old firm. It is available for free for both iOS and Android devices through the App Store and Google Play store, by searching "TSEmpLaw" or via these links:
Apple App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/tsemplaw/id1317048008?mt=8
Google Play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.traverssmith.tsemplaw
TSEmpLaw features a wide range of content and functionality, including: concise guides to the main areas of UK employment law; summaries of recent HR-related case law; and the latest news on issues such as the gig economy, the General Data Protection Regulation, and the effect of Brexit on business immigration.
Travers Smith's Head of Employment Ed Mills commented:
"As we start 2018 our clients are grappling with an increasing number of complex HR and immigration issues. They consistently tell us they want to be able to access up-to-date legal information quickly and easily, and for it to be presented succinctly, without being drowned in unnecessary detail or bamboozled by legalese. We have designed TSEmpLaw for just this purpose."
Travers Smith's Managing Partner David Patient commented:
"With employment and business immigration law becoming topical and relevant like never before, it was the ideal area of our practice with which to launch our first client-facing app. The ongoing Brexit negotiations, the upcoming implementation of GDPR, and the requirements around gender pay reporting are just some of the issues which make it more important than ever for employers to keep on top of the news and the regulatory and legislative agenda. At Travers Smith we are proud to be embracing innovative ways in which we can help clients do this."
Travers Smith's Employment Department, led by Ed Mills, comprises three partners, 11 associates and two professional support lawyers. The team acts for employer clients across all sectors and advises on the full range of employment law and business immigration issues, in the UK and internationally. Some of the team's recent highlights include:
Successfully defending a major US asset management organisation against a £12 million sex/maternity discrimination claim by a former trader.
Acting for Bridgepoint on taking on exclusive rights to the Burger King brand in the UK.
Advising Micro Focus on the employment aspects of its high-profile acquisition of Hewlett Packard's OpenStack and Cloud Foundry assets.
