Travers Smith LLP is delighted to announce that for the third consecutive year its Funds team has won the "Legal: Fund Formation Award" at the 2022 Drawdown Awards.

The Drawdown Awards celebrate excellence and innovation within private capital fund operations. The rigorous judging process and awards are based on the views of a panel of leading private capital fund COOs, CFOs, CCOs, GCs and CTOs.
The team was recognised for its work advising on mandates from leading UK, European and Global private equity funds, from venture through to growth, mid-market and larger buyout firms. The team acted as fund counsel on the structuring and raising of 34 private fund mandates with an aggregate in excess of €15 billion of targeted commitments. This included acting for long-standing clients but also winning and building new relationships.
Key work highlights include:
- Advising Bluegem Capital Partners on the €340m final close of its latest European mid-market PE fund, Bluegem III. The firm previously advised Bluegem on Fund II
- Advising Melior Equity Partners on €160 million on the final close of Melior Equity Partners Fund II
- Acting for Hermes GPE on the GP-led structured transaction in which a $800m portfolio of mid-market and growth assets was transferred from a separately managed account for BT Pension Scheme to a continuation vehicle backed by CPP Investments
Commenting on the win, Funds Partner, Sam Kay, said: "We are delighted that our team has received this prestigious award for the third year in a row. It is a reflection of the high quality service and advice we provide to our clients and in the last 12 months alone, our team has advised on many market leading and innovative fund formations."
