Travers Smith LLP is delighted that Partner and Head of Pensions Daniel Gerring has been awarded "Leader of the Year" and the Pensions Sector Group has been awarded the "Impact on Society" Award at the first inaugural Pensions Management Institute (PMI) Pinnacle Awards.
The PMI Pinnacle Awards recognise and celebrate the best of the pensions profession.
Daniel Gerring was named "Leader of the Year". Daniel has been Head of Pensions since 2016, he led the creation of our firmwide Pensions Sector Group, and has overseen a significant expansion in the scope and volume of the Group's work.
Daniel is also a recognised expert on diversity and inclusion and has extensive board and volunteer experience in the charitable sector, including mentoring schemes and networking initiatives in the pensions industry and wider society. Daniel previously won Mentor of the Year at the British Legal Awards in 2021.
Travers Smith was also awarded the "Impact on Society" Award for its ongoing work with LGBT+ young people's charity Just Like Us (JLU). In April 2022, the firm launched its sixth year of the pioneering mentoring scheme in partnership with JLU aimed at providing LGBT+ graduates with the skills, confidence and support they need as they transition from university life to full time employment. This year the scheme welcomes 54 mentors – its highest cohort to date. Daniel Gerring is the Chair of Just Like Us. Lawyers and professionals from across Travers Smith provide regular ongoing pro bono legal and other input for the charity in a range of areas.
