Travers Smith LLP is delighted to announce that its Investment Funds team has won 'Funds Team of the Year' at The Lawyer Awards 2018, which took place last night at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, in London.
The award recognises the team's work advising client SV Health Managers, a leading international life sciences venture capital firm, in relation to the fundraising of Dementia Discovery Fund (DDF), an innovative global investment fund to support discovery and development of novel dementia treatment.
The Fund, which closed in March 2018 raising total commitments of £250m, is managed by SV Health Managers LLP, and is focused entirely on discovering and developing novel therapies for dementia. It was formed through the collaboration of the UK Department of Health and several leading pharmaceutical companies. Other global strategic and institutional investors include Bill Gates, the British Business Bank and the US non-profit organisation AARP.
Travers Smith's Head of Investment Funds Sam Kay said: "We are delighted to have been awarded Funds Team of the Year at this year's The Lawyer Awards for our work with SV Health Managers. The DDF represents the first time that charity, government, financial institutions and the pharmaceutical industry have joined together on this scale with a venture capital firm, with the combined aim of tackling a major global health issue. We are very pleased to have had an opportunity to assist our client, on such a ground-breaking transaction."
