Travers Smith LLP is pleased to announce that Simon Rutman has been appointed as new head of the firm’s Real Estate practice with effect from 1 January 2017.
Simon Rutman has been a partner in the Real Estate department since 2000. He specialises in advising private equity real estate funds and active management real estate investors. This mirrors the focus of the department.
As head of real estate, Simon leads the team of four real estate partners and 25 real estate fee-earners in total. In his new role, he has succeeded Travers Smith’s senior practitioner Anthony Judge, who has led the practice for the past 3 years. Going forward, Anthony will remain a partner in the Real Estate team and also continue with his existing responsibilities at the firm.
Travers Smith’s real estate practice is ranked in Chambers UK in the top tier for mid-market transactions. The team works for a plethora of real estate funds and active management real estate investors including Patron Capital, Clearbell Capital, Lothbury Investment Trust, Mansford, Cinnamon Care Capital, Warburg HIH Global, Greenacre Capital Partners, Voreda, Northridge Capital as well as infrastructure investors such as Brookfield and Macquarie. It recently advised the Qatar based BTC on its acquisition of the former Bow Street Magistrate's Court and Police Station in Covent Garden for redevelopment into a luxury hotel.
