Travers Smith LLP has advised GTC, the UK’s largest installer and operator of last mile multi-utility networks, on its new partnership with UK-based ground source heat pump provider, The Kensa Group.
The new partnership represents the largest ever UK agreement between a utility infrastructure provider and ground source heat pump manufacturer. Through the partnership, GTC and Kensa will have scope to deliver a Networked Ground Source Heat Pump solution to tens of thousands of new build homes a year. This solution offers a clean alternative to gas, which is planned to be banned in new build developments from next year under the Future Homes Standard, requiring all new homes to have low-carbon heating.
John Marsh, Chief Operating Officer of GTC, commented: "We are excited by this new product to replace gas in new build homes, and to be working with our partner Kensa. This has been a real team effort, in quickly creating and launching a new product. Travers Smith have been a key part of this team, bringing a true partnership approach to shaping how we work together.
Technology & Commercial Transactions Partner, Richard Brown, said: "We are delighted to have advised GTC on this agreement – the largest of its kind in the UK. Bringing innovative technologies into new homes is crucial in our transition to a lower-carbon world, and this partnership will significantly help housebuilders across the UK facing grid capacity challenges from low carbon technologies."
The Travers Smith team was led by Technology & Commercial Transactions partner Richard Brown, supported by Senior Counsel Richard Offord and Associate Katie Hindley.
