Travers Smith advises management on the sale of The University of Law

Overview

A Travers Smith team led by Head of Private Equity, Paul Dolman, has advised the senior management team of The University of Law in connection with its sale by Montagu Private Equity ("Montagu") to Global University Systems ("GUS") an international network of higher-education institutions headquartered in Amsterdam.

The Travers Smith team also included corporate associates Naveed Anwar and Ian Keefe, tax partner Russell Warren and tax associate Tom Rickford.

Following the sale The University of Law will continue to operate as a distinct academic institution, retaining the strong governance structures which have helped establish its reputation for academic excellence. John Latham will continue to lead the The University of Law as President  & CEO together with the rest of the executive team.

The University of Law is the largest provider of professional legal education and training in the world with centres in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Chester, Guildford, Manchester and Leeds. Previously The College of Law, it was granted university title in November 2012.

Montagu and other selling shareholders were advised by Linklaters LLP. GUS was advised by Eversheds LLP.
