Travers Smith advises management on acquisition of Big Bus Tours by Exponent

Overview

A Travers Smith team led by senior partner Chris Hale and senior associate Adam Orr has advised management on the acquisition of Big Bus Tours by Exponent. The transaction sees Exponent agree to acquire a majority stake in the UK-based global sightseeing bus tour operator. 

The Travers team also included corporate associate Victoria Bramall. Tax advice was provided by head of tax group Kathleen Russ and tax associate Jessica Kemp

Big Bus Tours is the largest operator of open-top sightseeing bus tours in the world, providing tours in sixteen cities across Europe, the US, and Asia.  The company was formed in 2011 by the merger of UK-based Big Bus Company Ltd and Paris-based Les Cars Rouges, with each company being family owned and having over 20 years of successful tour experience.   The company has a combined fleet of over 300 buses carrying in excess of four million passengers per year.

Exponent were represented by Macfarlanes.  Allen & Overy acted for the Sellers.  Management also received corporate finance advice from Wyvern CF.
