Travers Smith LLP has advised long-standing client Livingbridge EP LLP (Livingbridge) on its investment in Venatus Media Limited (Venatus).
Venatus is a global advertising technology platform targeting video gaming and entertainment audiences that connects advertisers and their agencies with video gaming content and community website owners, giving them access to the hard-to-reach and highly valuable global gaming audiences.
Co-founded in 2010, Venatus’ addressable market is currently estimated to be around £1bn across the UK and US, with gamers representing a large, distinct and attractive segment for advertisers – a position which is likely to be enhanced by the increasing popularity of gaming and privacy-related changes to online tracking.
Livingbridge’s investment will be vital in supporting Venatus in establishing itself as the largest global specialist in this space – facilitating its ambitious growth plans in the US, taking the business to new geographies, and heavily investing in its proprietary technology.
The Travers Smith team was led by Private Equity & Financial Sponsors Partners James Renahan and William Yates and supported by Corporate Associates Alex Watt, Tom Halsey, Evander Obi, Cari Sweeney and Trainee Kasope Sonola. Specialist advice was provided by Tax Partner Hannah Manning, and Tax Associate Aimee Hutchinson and Finance Partner Barry Newman and Finance Associate Jason Larkins.
Travers Smith has also recently acted for Livingbridge on its acquisition of World of Books in July 2021.
