Travers Smith advises ITRS on acquisition of Sumerian

Overview

Travers Smith LLP has advised the ITRS Group, the leading provider of real-time monitoring and IT operations analytics, on its acquisition of capacity management firm, Sumerian.

The Travers Smith team was led by Private Equity Partner Emma Havas and Senior Associate Tom Hartwright. The team also included corporate Associate Jess Brown, Senior Tax Associate Camilla Woodall and Tax Associate Will Kelleher.

Sumerian’s software complements ITRS’ product suite. The technology takes large-scale data from ITRS’ Geneos – and other monitoring tools – into a powerful predictive analytics engine, which recommends optimisations, uses machine learning to predict future issues, and quantifies business risks through best in class scenario modelling. This is an increasingly important function for customers who have to manage ever more complex technology estates, and make more efficient use of IT resources according to business priorities and expected future demand.  The deal value is confidential.

Travers Smith also acted for the former majority shareholder of ITRS the Carlyle Group and management on the sale of ITRS to TA Associates in March 2017.

Kergan Stewart LLP provided legal advice to the selling shareholders of Sumerian.
