Travers Smith LLP has advised GLIL Infrastructure on its £150 million investment in Flexion Energy (Flexion), the specialist utility and energy storage infrastructure company. The deal is a joint venture with ion Ventures to scale UK energy storage infrastructure and support the UK’s transition to net zero.
The investment will support Flexion to develop, build, own and manage energy storage systems, helping to bridge the gap between development and financing of energy storage sites. Flexion aims to have 300MW of operational assets after two years, extending to 1GW within five years.
The Travers Smith team was led by Corporate M&A and ECM Partner Mohammed Senouci and Funds Partner Jeremy Elmore supported by Associate Michal Szperzynski. The team also included Tax Partner Jessica Kemp and Associate Rob Smith.
