Travers Smith advises Equistone Partners Europe on their investment in the BFT Mastclimbing Group

Overview

Travers Smith LLP has advised longstanding client Equistone Partners Europe (Equistone) on its investment in BFT Mastclimbing (BFT). Equistone has acquired a majority stake in BFT, investing alongside the founder, Robin Head, and management. The financial terms of the transaction are confidential.

Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Leighton Buzzard, BFT is the UK's largest provider of mast climbing work platforms to the UK construction industry, with a rental fleet of over 650 mast climbing machines and employing over 70 people.

The Travers Smith team was led by Private Equity Partner James Renahan, with Private Equity Associates Sally Hirst and Robert Coward assisting. Tax advice was provided by Tax Partner Hannah Manning and Tax Associate Will Kelleher.

Equistone were also advised by BDO UK LLP, Liberty Corporate Finance and Credo Consulting. The sellers of BFT were advised by Lyndales LLP, Stratex Partners and Streets LLP.
