Elysian Capital closes £250m fund

Overview

Travers Smith LLP has advised Elysian Capital on the successful final closing of the lower mid-market private equity fund Elysian Capital II LP (the "Fund"). The Fund raised a total of £250 million, with interest from both existing and new investors, meaning demand significantly surpassed the Fund's £250 million hard cap. Investors in the Fund include a diverse group of funds of funds, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies and family offices in Europe, the Middle East and North America.

The Travers Smith team was led by head of Investment Funds, Sam Kay and also included senior associate Phil Baynes, tax partner Emily Clark and tax associates Elena Rowlands and Amie McFadzean and regulatory partner Phil Bartram and associate Greg Patton.

This fundraising continued the relationship between Travers Smith and Elysian Capital with Travers Smith having previously advised Elysian on its establishment in 2007 and the fundraising of its debut fund, Elysian Capital I LP (a £130 million fund that had its final close in September 2010).

Sam Kay, Head of Investment Funds, commented:

"We are delighted to have advised long-standing client Elysian Capital on the fundraising of Elysian Capital II.  The fundraising was completed in five months, which was a challenge but demonstrates the continuing success of Elysian."
