Celebrating difference: Travers Smith launches Diversity Month 2018

Overview

As part of its ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, Travers Smith LLP is pleased to launch its first month-long series of seminars, events and initiatives aimed at creating a more inclusive workplace.

Throughout March, the firm will be running a series of sessions to explore different aspects of what it means to work in an inclusive workplace. The firm will be joined by individuals from a range of organisations (including; Goldman Sachs, BP, RBS and Patron Capital) to share good practice, experiences and new ideas aimed at promoting greater inclusion.   

Highlights from the month-long programme include:

  • a panel discussion between senior women working in law to discuss female leadership and women in leadership roles
  • a session with former winners and nominees of Rare Recruitment's Rising Star Awards, which showcase the achievements of the best black students in the UK, who will share their stories of success and how their resilience, passion and ambition shaped them to become future BAME leaders
  • a discussion led by the founders of City Disabilities on high-performing professionals' experiences of ability, inclusion and leadership
  •  a session examining trans* visibility in law, held in partnership with Global Butterflies.  

The programme will conclude with a "State of the Nation" address, led by the firm's Senior Partner Chris Hale. Speakers at this sessions include David Isaac CBE, Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, as well as Christina Blacklaws, Vice President of The Law Society, to discuss the D&I landscape of the UK.
