Travers Smith advises Inflexion on its investment in aosphere

Travers Smith LLP has advised Inflexion Private Equity on their investment in aosphere, a legal and compliance data subscription platform. As part of the transaction, Inflexion's Partnership Capital II fund will make a strategic investment alongside Allen & Overy ("A&O") and Endicott Capital, a US-based investor specialising in the information services industry.

Travers Smith advises Clipway on its launch of new global secondaries firm

 Travers Smith LLP has advised Clipway on its establishment as a new global GP and strategic investment from Carmignac and General Atlantic. Clipway is a new global private equity secondaries firm that leverages proprietary technology to optimise investment strategy. The Clipway team, headquartered in London with an office in New York, is led by veteran secondaries investors and managing partners Vincent Gombault and Ingmar Vallano.

The Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Act (REUL Act) has recently received Royal Assent. Here we consider the impact of the REUL Act on employment law, including a range of employment rights derived from EU law, and the impact on equality law.

Changes to the UK business immigration rules

  • Following the Home Secretary's statement on 23 May 2023, if an international student's course start date is on or after 1 January 2024, they are no longer permitted to bring dependants unless the course is a PhD, other doctoral qualification, or a research-based higher degree. The ability for international students to switch out of the student route into work routes before their studies have been completed has also now been removed.

Mock Investigation 2023

In May 2023, we hosted our inaugural Mock investigation event. Following a workplace investigation into allegations of bullying by a senior manager, the event considered how to scope, prepare and carry out an investigation, including issues such as legal privilege, suspension, confidentiality of witnesses, and data privacy. 

The Retained EU Law Act: cliff edge removed, but cloud of uncertainty remains

The controversial legislation to enable the Government to revoke or reform retained EU law (the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Act or REUL Act) has now Received Royal Assent. Although some of the most heavily criticised aspects of the legislation have been removed, it will still create a climate of uncertainty around retained EU law.
